Kanojo VR, demo run review
This game comes from the infamous Japanese 3D adult game company Illusion. I believe the company has a lot of fans here in the U.S. but from what I see it, it is just another lazy ass company that builds games that have make-shift graphics and boring mechanics.
That being said, this upcoming title seems to be the company's first official step into the VR business.
It has similar design concept as to another upcoming title Summer Lesson by Namco. The only major difference being in this game you can have sex with the girl but in Summer Lesson you only get aroused.
It can run on VIVE and Oculus. It supports hand controller.
The major gameplay being the girl asks you questions and you simply answer them by nodding or shaking your head. Well at least this is the only game mechanics I got during the demo.
The other game, Summer Lesson, is apparently doing the same thing.
This is pretty cheap in terms of VR interaction. Nodding or shaking one's head might sound cool at the beginning, but, let's face it, this is just an obsolete VR trick. It has been in use since like almost 6 years ago.
It is also cheap in a way that it saves the developer's time to make those true interaction that the player could have with this girl, like handing the girl a thing, or just making choices by doing stuff instead of shaking or nodding heads.
This is just like putting the girl into a state machine and only given a boolean input.
Not really amazing. The company has been deploying this kind of graphics since two years ago. However, it's not bad either. Hope the consistency will be kept in the full game.
Music and Voice Casting: 4/5
These companies always do a good job on music and especially voice casting. The voice fits the girl just right.
It's okay. You gotta a chance to see her panty when she is chilling in front of a fan. I feel like eye contact is important for VR adult games and I didn't really get a good eye contact with the girl during the demo. It's weird that you can tell the girl is definitely trying to look at where u at but it seems to be a little bit off and glitchy.
VR with anime adult content / hentai content is a big direction for the future VR gaming industry. While this game itself may not be that satisfying at the end, it's good to see such a big company in the industry is taking somewhat efforts to push that boundary.
The full game will be released by March and will have a price tag of $50. This seems to be a little more expensive than their previous non-VR titles. Let's hope they at least deliver something.
